Mt Bachelor Quilter's Guild Block of the Month Program - "Birthday Block"
Starting in February 2011, the Block of the Month for the following month will be announced at the Guild meeting with a specific theme and colors.
The purpose of the Block of the Month program is to increase the number of quilts our guild donates to the community. As a member of the guild, you are encouraged to make at least one community quilt each year and to donate the quilt during your birthday month. Block of the Month makes this easier!
In addition to the Fat Quarter drawing, we will have a Block of the Month drawing at each Guild meeting. The winner of the monthly drawing will receive up to 12 blocks for a great head start on making a Community Quilt. Additional names will be drawn until all the blocks have been awarded to members.
Make as many blocks as you can, attach your name to each of your blocks and bring them to the monthly guild meeting. The more you make - the better your chances of winning!

February
2011
The theme for February's Block of the Month is "Valentine's Day". The block will include Red, White and Brown (or dark chocolate/black) like a box of Valentine Chocolates. The block has a red center (2 to 4 different reds, not pink), White or beige or neutral borders, and brown or black corners.
This month’s
birthday block uses the pattern,’ uneven 9 patch ‘, also used in February and
March. The theme is “Here’s Lookin’ at You, Kid” and is meant to be an ‘I
spy” kids block. Use novelty prints or prints with objects
that one can say ”do you see a bunny or a flower or a car?” for example, for
the center blocks and the corner blocks. Use something solid or reads as
solid for the borders.
See the website
for the block instructions. We’ve had some great quilt
blocks produced and the winners have shown us some very nice ‘birthday’ quilts
for their community quilt project.
Please put your
name on the blocks for the drawing. You may make as many as you
like, but the more blocks you enter, the better your chances of winning enough
for a nice quilt top with little effort. Thanks for participating.
