MBQG 2010 Quilt Challenge
“One Little Word”
One little word can change the world, or at least make a difference in your life. This year’s quilt challenge will be to find your “one little word” and make a quilt inspired by that word. The word could be anything, but it must have meaning for you. It should be considered a word to live by in the coming year. I hope that the quilt you make will have personal meaning for you and will be one that you will cherish for many years to come.
Here are some places to find inspiration:

Here are the rules:
- The quilt must be an interpretation of your chosen word.
-
The quilt must have the word in the quilt somewhere. It should be able to be found by viewers. The word could be created by any method, including embellishment.
-
The quilt must include 3 layers and be quilted. It can include piecing, appliqué or any combination of the two.
-
The quilt may include any sort of embellishment, but doesn’t have to have any embellishment at all.
-
The minimum length for any side of the quilt must be 12”, the maximum length for any side should be approximately 60”. However, if you choose to make a quilt with any side shorter than 36”, the quilt may not be eligible to be shown in the Sisters Quilt Show at a later date.
-
The quilt must be the sole work of the entrant.
-
The quilt must have a fabric label attached to the back of the lower, right hand corner and that label should be covered with a piece of muslin so that voting will be anonymous.
-
Please keep your word and your quilt a secret from other guild members.
Due Date:
The quilts must be delivered to me by Monday, June 28th. They should be delivered in a brown paper bag with the label covered as above. Either bring your bag to me at one of the regular guild or board meetings (June 28 is a board meeting) prior to that date, or contact me (see below) to arrange delivery.
Voting:
Voting will take place during the social before the guild meeting on July 12th. The quilts will be displayed anonymously. Categories for voting are:
· Best Interpretation of the Theme
· Best Pieced Quilt
· Best Appliqued Quilt
· Best use of Color
Quilt Show Display:
Your quilt will be returned to you after voting, but you are encouraged to enter the quilt in the Guild Quilt Show on August 21 for a Viewer’s Choice contest. The quilts will be collected at the same time that the regular quilts are collected for the show. Challenge quilts will have a special entry number and will be displayed together. Quilt show visitors and guild members will be able to vote for Viewer’s Choice in this display.
Awarding Prizes:
I will award the prizes for the 4 categories, plus Viewer’s Choice at the September Guild meeting. At this time I would like all the quilts to be there for the whole guild to see.
